Unexpectedly Self Sufficient
Have you ever dreamed of being self sufficient? Living off the land?
I certainly have.
It’s a big goal and requires a lot of work, and although I don’t try to grown and eat all my own homegrown food, there are times when I could if I wanted to.
Even if you aren’t trying to be self-sufficient and grow all your own food, if you have a garden with a variety of different edible plants, you can eat a surprising amount of meals from food you pick from your own garden
Late summer is one of the easiest times to start eating more homegrown food since there’s so much variety and there tends to be a surplus of food to eat and preserve.
In this video, I eat every single meal with food I grew in my own garden. These are all common fruits, vegetables and herbs that plenty of us with a garden can grow, and you can see how it’s possible to eat all your meals from your own garden, even if your goal isn’t to be self sufficient.
To see what a full day’s worth of meals, snacks and drinks from a backyard garden looks like in later summer, check out this week’s video.
